I run bespoke and off-the-peg workshops and mentoring for emerging and established artists of all ages.
As that horrible sentence implies, this page is all about the sales pitch.
But before we get into that, let me say this: if you think I can help, I'm always happy to talk. Really. Send me an email and we can set up a phone call or a cuppa.
MENTORING:
Mentoring available varies from support during an edition of The Six O'Clock News, through regular one-on-one sessions to full artistic support in the creation of new work. I've done lots of this, and I'm not being insincere when I say I get just as much out of it as you do.
If you're interested in any of this, by the way, please do get in touch.
WORKSHOPS:
Workshops can be anything from a couple of hours to a full week, covering all elements of my practice. This includes storytelling, comedy, devising solo performance, connecting with an audience, finding the right vehicle for your ideas, marrying form and content, exploring structure, writing for performance and several more. I have a workshop on generating and developing your ideas that I'm particularly enjoying at the moment.
LET'S NOT FORGET ABOUT H.E.
I have a background in higher education and specialise in workshops and sessions for that constituency. My PhD was on Brecht's use of clowning techniques and I can deliver practical and theoretical sessions on many aspects of political comedy and theatre. Any of the sessions above can be tailored to the specific requirements of your institution.
HERE ARE SOME THINGS PEOPLE HAVE SAID:
"We had a feedback session with the group this morning and your workshop very distinctly stood out as a highlight, and as something they can take forward into their own way of making work." - Commissioner of a workshop for emerging artists
"Best week of my life." - several participants of one particular two-week workshop. It was never clear whether the other week was disappointing, or whether time just flew by so quickly it felt like they'd only had one week.
