MOUNTAIN RESCUE

A new play by Daniel Bye

In development at Theatre by the Lake, autumn 2026

Production (autumn 2027 or summer 2028) to be co-produced by Theatre by the Lake and The Dukes.

TESTIMONIALS

"We are delighted to be supporting Dan Bye’s Mountain Rescue.

"We can see its natural affinity both with our existing audiences - who consistently respond to work that speaks from and to the realities of life in this region -  as well as a way to reach new audiences. There are so many people (both locals and tourists) who are interested in the outdoors, but who might not yet feel that theatre is for them. The project has clear potential to reach these new audiences.

"Dan is an ideal artist to lead this work. His practice is thoughtful, rigorous and rooted in genuine curiosity about people and place. He has a proven ability to translate complex themes into compelling theatre. We are excited to host this initial R&D. We believe this work has the potential to make a meaningful contribution to the cultural life of Cumbria and are delighted to support its next steps."

-
Amy Clewes, Head of Programming and Producing, Theatre by the Lake

"Dan has created work for the Dukes many times for our summer and Christmas family audiences. We're excited at the prospect of him bringing his many skills to bear on the creation of new work for our adult audiences. This new project should appeal to old and new audiences alike."

- Chris Lawson, Artistic Director, The Dukes.
